Devan Dubnyk: Signs Six-Year Deal

Dubnyk signed a six-year, $25 million contract with Minnesota on Saturday, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Analysis:

The contract favors both parties, as Dubnyk gains the security he was looking for with the length of the contract, and the Wild gain the goaltending consistency they have been looking for for years at a reasonable rate. Dubnyk had a phenomenal season after being traded to the Wild in January. He went 27-9-2 with a 1.78 GAA and a .936 save percentage in 39 games with Minnesota. That performance was enough to propel Dubnyk to Vezina Trophy finalist status in 2014-15, although it was a foregone conclusion that Carey Price would take home the award this year. Dubnyk will be a centerpiece of Minnesota's organization for years to come, and will be a top fantasy option on a defensively sound team for the foreseeable future.
