Kendall Marshall, who last played for the Milwaukee Bucks in 2014-15, chimed in with this trending mantra.

In 2007, John Amaechi, who played for the Utah Jazz, Orlando Magic, and Cleveland Cavaliers, became the first former NBA player to come out publicly.

In 2011, president of the 2015 NBA champion Golden State Warriors Rick Welts, then-president and CEO of the Phoenix Suns, announced he was gay. He became the first high-ranking U.S. professional sports executive to do so.
