Senators trade Eric Gryba to Oilers for 4th-round pick, prospect

Marc DesRosiers / USA TODAY Sports

Peter Chiarelli added another big-bodied defenseman to the Edmonton Oilers' back end, acquiring Eric Gryba from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for the 107th overall selection and forward Travis Ewanyk.

The Boston University product is a physical, stay-at-home rearguard who won't provide offense, but certainly fits the Chiarelli mold.

He replaces Martin Marincin, who was traded to the Maple Leafs for the 107th pick used in the deal with Ottawa.

Gryba joins Griffin Reinhart, who was acquired from the New York Islanders for the 16th overall selection, as newcomers on the Oilers' blue line.

Ottawa selected defenseman Christian Wolanin with the 107th selection.
