Frank Kaminsky: Drafted No. 9 by Hornets in 2015 NBA Draft

Kaminsky was drafted by the Hornets with the ninth pick of the 2015 NBA Draft.

Analysis:

People seem torn on Kaminsky's role on an NBA team, but even if he ends up being a role player like, say, Mehmet Okur, he should be able to offer plenty of fantasy value. A player who qualifies at center and can shoot for a high percentage from the floor and the line while hitting a couple three-pointers per game is nearly unique in fantasy, and Kaminsky could do just that. He is deceptively quick off the dribble and can get around slower big men. On the right team, Kaminsky could also be devastating on the pick-n-pop, as he should be able to shoot at least 35 percent from NBA range on catch-and-shoots, and when teams try to cheat and take away the three, he can counter and beat his man while rolling traditionally to the rim. He shot 58 percent on two-pointers, 42 percent on three-pointers, and 78 percent from the line as a senior at Wisconsin, so it's tough to question his offensive efficiency. Other than Jahlil Okafor, no post player in this draft can match Kaminsky's current array of post moves, so his inside/outside ability will allow him to fit fairly seamlessly in any offensive style. There won't be much fantasy production in the defensive categories, but that comes with the territory of owning a stretch big man. The Charlotte frontcourt already consists of Al Jefferson, Cody Zeller, Spencer Hawes and Marvin Williams, so it will be interesting to see where Kaminsky fits into the rotation. Both he and Hawes carry a similar skill set, as both will be able to create space with their outside shots and leave the lane open for Jefferson.
