Giants' Landon Collins expects to be Defensive Rookie of the Year

Stop the presses! A rookie has made a bold claim in the offseason.

After Denver Broncos pass rusher Shane Ray said he plans to be Defensive Rookie of the Year earlier this week, New York Giants safety Landon Collins has also thrown his hat into the ring.

Collins was asked Friday what his expectations are for 2015.

"Defensive Rookie of the Year, that's my expectation," Collins told NFL.com.

The rookie is excited for his inaugural campaign and has been happy with his offseason development.

"It's been going fantastic," he said. "The coaches love the range that I have. I get to go showcase it at practice ... the more I work on it, the better I can get at it and the more I can help my corners if I need to help over the top."

It's not exactly shocking to hear rookies say they want to be the best, but this defensive class appears to have very high expectations.
