Lions' Haloti Ngata on Ndamukong Suh comparison: 'We're totally different players'

Detroit Lions defensive tackle Haloti Ngata doesn't put too much stock into the idea that he was brought on as Ndamukong Suh's replacement.

"That's what people are just going to say," Ngata told Jenny Vrentas of The MMQB. "Going from one great player to another, people are automatically just going to say it.

"For me, I just think we're totally different players. We've always been. He's made Pro Bowls, and I have, too. Hopefully I can continue to help this team win."

The Lions acquired Ngata in a trade with the Baltimore Ravens in March, reuniting him with head coach Jim Caldwell and defensive coordinator Teryl Austin, with whom he won Super Bowl XLVII. That doesn't necessarily mean he'll be used the same way he was in Baltimore, though.

"They're going to see how I play," Ngata said. "We're definitely just different body types. I weigh a little bit more than (Suh) does, and so we're just going to have to roll with whatever happens in the season."
