Bills' Marquise Goodwin finishes 4th at U.S. Track and Field Championships

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Marquise Goodwin turned in an impressive fourth-place finish in long jump at the U.S. Track and Field Championships, but narrowly missed qualifying for the upcoming world championships in Beijing.

Goodwin had to finish among the top three to earn a spot on the U.S. national track and field team. His jump of 27 feet, 5 1/2 inches was good enough for fourth.

The winning jump was 28 feet, 5 3/4 inches.

"Back to football," Goodwin told the Associated Press. "But words can't even explain how happy I am right now."

Had Goodwin qualified for Beijing, he would likely have missed some of the Bills' training camp. The world championship of long jump is scheduled for Aug. 25, right in the middle of the NFL's preseason.

Goodwin said he plans to get back to long jump next year and will try to qualify for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

"We know what's (coming up) next year. I expect big things," Goodwin said. "But football is my main deal right now."
