Utah Jazz select Olivier Hanlan with No. 42 pick

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) The Utah Jazz have selected Olivier Hanlan with the No. 42 pick of the NBA draft. The team used its first second-round pick on the 6-foot-4, 186-pound guard from Boston College after taking Kentucky forward Trey Lyles with the No. 12 overall pick.

Hanlan averaged 19.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists as a junior and led the Atlantic Coast Conference in points per game.

The Jazz finished the season with a 38-44 record, a 13-game improvement from the 2013-14 season. The team went into the offseason needing shooting after averaging the fifth-fewest points per game last season. Frontcourt depth became a priority after the team moved Enes Kanter to the Thunder at the deadline.

The Jazz have the No. 54 overall pick remaining.
