49ers plan to use more zone-blocking concepts this season

The San Francisco 49ers are making some changes to the way they run.

As the team transitions to a new system under offensive line coach Chris Foerster, they plan on using more zone-blocking concepts, according to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee.

The 49ers will not be abandoning the power blocking that has become a staple of their offense in recent years, but at this point, it's unknown what the ratio will be between the two concepts, Barrows reports.

"We'll implement some of that stuff, like the stretch zone, more so than we have in the past," left tackle Joe Staley said. "But we're still going to do what we've done well here. What's worked for us has been power running. It's what we know. We'll definitely implement all styles."
