Kamara leads the way as Columbus edges New England

Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Kei Kamara scored a goal in each half to propel Columbus Crew SC to a 2-1 win over the New England Revolution at MAPFE Stadium on Wednesday.

Columbus went behind in the opening minute to a goal from Lee Nguyen, but Kamara came right back and leveled the match in the fourth minute.

He then tallied his 12th goal of the campaign in the 50th minute as Crew SC held on for their first win in seven games.

New England, meanwhile, has now recorded just one victory in its last nine outings.

It took the Revs just 35 seconds to seize the advantage as a Columbus turnover allowed Kelyn Rowe to lay a pass off for Nguyen, who lashed a shot low shot past goalkeeper Steve Clark from just outside the penalty area.

Despite the early blow, the hosts responded well and were back on level terms within three minutes as Federico Higuain's header struck the crossbar, allowing Kamara to score on the rebound.

The difference in the match arrived five minutes after halftime as Ethan Finlay drove a cross to the front of goal for Kamara to slot home, giving Finlay his league-leading ninth assist of the campaign.
