McElhinney will be locked in as Sergei Bobrovsky's backup for the next two seasons after posting a 12-14-2 record, .914 save percentage, and 2.88 GAA in 2014-15. The Blue Jackets were forced to lean on McElhinney more frequently than desired due to Bobrovsky's injury issues, but the 32-year-old provided competent play for the most part. He likely won't make for an intriguing spot-start option most nights, but should at least play well enough when called upon to keep the Blue Jackets competitive while Bobrovsky rests.
