NBA legend Walt Frazier critical of LeBron James' treatment of head coach David Blatt

Thou shall respect thy head coach.

LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers apparently didn't get the memo, which is how a recent piece by ESPN's Marc Stein portrayed his relationship with head coach David Blatt.

The four-time NBA Most Valuable Player reportedly overruled Blatt's calls several times throughout the course of the season, including one instance during the NBA Finals where James got his coach to draw up a new play without saying a word.

Walt Frazier, a seven-time NBA All-Star and current color commentator for New York Knicks telecasts, chimed in on the controversial relationship between player and coach during a recent charity event in Queens, N.Y.

Suffice to say, the 70-year-old NBA legend was none too pleased after learning of James' apparent treatment of his first-year coach.

While James' opinion as the leader of the team and the greatest player on the planet certainly holds weight, there has to be a line drawn in the sand in terms of Blatt's control over his players and not allowing the inmates to run the asylum.

During a season-ending press conference, Blatt told reporters he doesn't have a problem with James expressing his opinion during huddles.

"I think it's important he feels empowered ... his heart was in the right place," Blatt said.

Cavs owner Dan Gilbert hired Blatt prior to James returning to the franchise last summer, so there was no real way for The King to offer his two cents on who should be brought in to run the team.

While Gilbert affirms he never once thought about firing Blatt, if James (who can be an unrestricted free agent) decides he wants a change in direction at the head coaching position, Gilbert's stance on the matter will likely have to do a complete overhaul.

Perhaps then James will play under someone he respects, thus gaining Frazier's approval as more than just a "great player" once again.
