MLS Game Summary - Vancouver at New York

Harrison, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Vancouver Whitecaps FC goalkeeper David Ousted saved two penalty kicks to help his side to a 2-1 win over Red Bull New York at Red Bull Arena on Saturday.

New York played much of the match with 10 men after Sacha Kljestan's 11th- minute red card, while Kekuta Manneh scored in the 15th minute to put the Whitecaps in front.

Kianz Froese doubled the lead in 77th for the visitors, while Anatole Abang pulled a goal back in the 82nd for New York, which slumped to its fourth successive defeat.

The match was especially eventful in the first 15 minutes as New York was awarded a penalty kick in the fourth minute after Steven Beitashour fouled Sal Zizzo inside the box.

Bradley Wright-Phillips stepped forward but Ousted was up to the task, parrying the shot to keep the match scoreless.

Kljestan was sent off in the 11th minute for a clash with Kendall Waston inside the box, and Vancouver took advantage four minutes later as Beitashour made a good run down the wing before whipping a cross to the front of goal that was finished off by Manneh from six yards.

Octavio Rivero struck the post with a powerful shot from 20 yards as the Whitecaps tried to add to their lead, but Wright-Phillips was handed another chance from the spot in the 64th after Beitashour pulled the jersey of Abang inside his penalty area.

This time Wright-Phillips tried to drive the ball down the middle, but once again Ousted was equal to the task, making the New York forward the first player to miss two penalty kicks in one MLS game.

Froese was then released by Rivero on a counter-attack move that saw him slot his shot past goalkeeper Luis Robles for his first MLS goal.

Abang headed home a cross from Chris Duvall with eight minutes to play, but it wasn't enough as Vancouver held on for the win, which is the club's fourth in the past six games.
