Jets sign Ben Chiarot to 2-year, $1.7 million contract

The Winnipeg Jets have locked up restricted free agent Ben Chiarot for the next couple years.
The club announced Thursday they've signed the defenseman to a two-year deal worth $850,000 annually.
Chiarot, 24, split 2014-15 between the Jets and their AHL affiliate in St. John's.
He recorded eight points in 40 NHL games and nine points in 24 AHL contests.
