VIDEO: Wizards' Pierce dunks Jimmy Kimmel in 'Sink it or Swim'

Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

When betting on a shootout between a 17-year NBA veteran and a late night talk show host, always go with the guy who drills clutch baskets for a living.

Washington Wizards forward Paul Pierce, who apparently hadn't taken a shot in nearly three weeks, recently took on Jimmy Kimmel of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" in a friendly game of "Sink it or Swim."

With both men seated on opposing dunk tanks, they hoisted up shots until one fell through a hoop situated across from them, thus dunking their fellow competitor in the cold water below.

Pierce has been wet for years, but The Truth managed to stay dry on this occasion, nailing his second attempt.

That is, until Kimmel decided to engage in a little horseplay (which was strictly against the rules), dipping Pierce at the end of the segment.

It should be noted that neither Kimmel nor Pierce needed to receive "vcr" from Guillermo.
