Report: Lakers, Knicks, Nets, Kings among teams interested in Raptors' Williams

After a career-year that saw him take home Sixth Man of the Year honors, Lou Williams will have no shortage of potential free-agent suitors.

The Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, and Sacramento Kings will be among those pursuing the pending free-agent guard in the hopes of luring him away from the Toronto Raptors, according to Real GM's Shams Charania.

Williams hasn't been shy about his desire to remain with the Raptors, who took a chance on the veteran in acquiring him from Atlanta last summer despite a disappointing season following his recovery from a torn ACL.

Williams rewarded the Raptors' faith by averaging a career-high 15.5 points in 25 minutes per game to lead Toronto's second-ranked bench – a key component of the team's franchise-record 49-win season.

His shooting percentages – 40 percent from the field, 34 percent from deep – were concerning for a player taking nearly 24 shots per 100 possessions and using 27 percent of the team's possessions when on the court. But with 48.2 percent of Williams' attempts coming from long range and 42.6 percent of his field-goal attempts resulting in a trip to the free-throw line thanks to his uncanny ability to draw fouls, the shoot-first guard was still able to score efficiently for the Raptors, producing 1.14 points per individual possession, according to Basketball Reference.

The Raptors and Williams may have mutual interest in continuing their so-far successful partnership, but if the interest of the Lakers, Knicks, Nets, Kings, and others drives the 28-year-old's price up, it may be tough for Toronto to talk themselves into Williams' 2014-15 free-throw attempt rate and his efficiency remaining sustainable.
