Lance Stephenson thanks Hornets with photo of him wearing Clippers jersey

Lance Stephenson can be described by a plethora of different adjectives - "discreet," however, is not one of them.

Late Monday evening, shortly after the trade that sent the mercurial guard to the Los Angeles Clippers was announced, Stephenson posted a message on Instagram, thanking the Charlotte Hornets organization and fans of the team.

The sincerity of Stephenson's comment, however, may come into question since it was accompanied by a photo of himself in his new team's duds.

Thank you to buzz city and the Hornets organization. While the past year didn't work out as I hoped it would, I really enjoyed my time in the city of Charlotte. I will thoroughly miss the Hornets fans and my teammates who were very supportive of me over the last year. I wish the Hornets success going forward and I'm looking forward to doing whatever I can to help bring a championship to Los Angeles and Clipper Nation.???????????????

Hornets general manager Rich Cho commented on Lance's awkward fit on the Hornets' roster throughout the 2014-15 season, as reported by the Charlotte Observer's Rick Bonnell. "Sometimes when you make a trade or a signing it just doesn't work out well. He never fit in great," Cho said.

Although Cho's words validated what most have known all season, he added that Stephenson remained professional throughout his brief tenure with the Hornets. "I thought Lance handled it really well. I thought it was a shock to his system that he was not playing so much. But he handled it very professionally."

While the 24-year-old, 6-foot-5 combo guard heads to the Clippers, the Hornets receive "stretch five" Spencer Hawes and veteran defensive wing Matt Barnes.
