Ross Chastain: Wins the GEICO 500

Chastain won the GEICO 500 NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway Sunday afternoon.

Analysis:

Like many superspeedway races this one would come down to a crazy last-lap of action. Chastain didn't have the lead at the white flag but he'd make the most of a great opportunity on the last lap as the leaders transited the tri-oval coming to the finish line. Kyle Larson and Kurt Busch would make contact going for the win and Erik Jones would get out of shape, giving Chastain an open door and shot at the win. He'd take the lead and hold off Austin Dillon to collect his second victory of the season.
