George Russell: Hangs onto fourth

Russell finished fourth at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix F1 race at Imola on Sunday.

Analysis:

Russell had a strong race, jumping from his 11th place start to a finish just outside the podium. He benefitted from a chaotic opening lap that saw Daniel Ricciardo and Carlos Sainz Jr. collide, which allowed Russell to jump to P6 by the second lap. From there, he mostly held steady until the final 10 laps of the race when Charles Leclerc made a critical error that allowed Russell to gain another position. Though Valtteri Bottas was challenging him the for the fourth-place finish, Russell held on to secure 12 points.
