Barcelona confirm interest in Paul Pogba

Beating Juventus in the Champions League final obviously wasn't enough for Barcelona after the team's president revealed an interest in the Italian side's most promising players.

Josep Bartomeu admitted that Paul Pogba is on their radar, but stopped short of saying the club will put in an official bid for the French international.

"It is true that Pogba is a leading target of ours and obviously we are interested, but I can't say anything more," Bartomeu told Spanish publication Telefoot (courtesy of ESPNFC). "We are forbidden to recruit players until January, so I can't talk about it."

Any such offer for Pogba would likely occur in 2016, when Barcelona's transfer ban is lifted.

Juventus, however, aren't willing to consider offers for the 22-year-old, as the team's director general Giuseppe Marotta vehemently rejected the idea of selling one of the team's core players.

"His position is different. Pogba has a multi-season contract, is growing year on year and we need quality players to improve the team," he said.

"In this case, the desire of the club is predominant over that of the player. Our rapport is excellent. We don't want to sell him. There are no negotiations and we have no intention of starting any."
