Kyriakos Papadopoulos isn't leaving Bayer Leverkusen just yet.

Leverkusen announced the signing of the Greek centre-back Sunday on a permanent deal through June 30, 2020.

Papadopoulos, 23, spent last season on loan at Leverkusen from FC Schalke 04. He was limited to only 14 Bundesliga appearances due to a pair of shoulder injuries.

"I'm really happy it's worked out," Papadopoulos said. "Despite having two bad shoulder injuries last season I had a fantastic time in Leverkusen. The club put their trust in me and made a lot of effort to sign me, which I'm very grateful for. I'm looking forward to my future in this great team which can still achieve so much."

"We have met his wishes and give him our best," Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt said in a statement on the move.
