MLS Game Summary - Vancouver at Los Angeles

Carson, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Kekuta Manneh's first-half strike proved to be the difference on Saturday as Vancouver Whitecaps FC claimed a 1-0 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy at the StubHub Center.

Coming off a 2-1 loss to Canadian rivals Montreal Impact on Wednesday, the Whitecaps hoped to get off to a good start in a difficult venue, and the club did just that, collecting the only goal just past the half-hour mark.

Manneh created the scoring opportunity when he drove down the right side of the pitch and ripped one on frame that beat Los Angeles goalkeeper Bran Rowe to the near post.

The home side picked up the urgency in the second half as manager Bruce Arena sent goal poacher Alan Gordon on as a substitute in the 60th minute and fellow attacker Sebastian Lletget into the fold with 15 minutes to play.

The fourth official's board showed four minutes of added time and the Galaxy continued to push for an equalizer, but Vancouver's defense held out to claim an important three points.

The result takes Vancouver to 26 points from 16 matches, good for second place in the West, while Los Angeles remains in fifth place.
