Real Madrid on alleged Marco Verratti offer: 'Rumours are completely untrue'

The eternal battle between Real Madrid and the media continues.

A report from Sky Sports surfaced Monday claiming a €50-million bid is being readied by Real Madrid for Marco Verratti of Paris Saint-Germain and an agreement in principle already existed that would pay the 22-year-old defensive midfielder close to €7 million per year.

Of course, most reports of that variety - even those from Sky Sports - should be taken with a grain of salt and are easy to dismiss until concrete evidence emerges.

However, Real Madrid didn't take too kindly to the allegation and issued a statement, denying they've had any contact with Verratti:

In light of the rumours spread by various media outlets concerning an alleged offer on the part of Real Madrid for the player Marco Verratti, the club states:

That Real Madrid have not made any contact with PSG or the player's agent, and therefore these rumors are completely untrue.

This is the second time Real Madrid have issued a statement to deny a report in the past 10 days, as they officially announced having had no contact with Paul Pogba following an allegation in Spanish publication La Stampa.

Imagine a world where clubs addressed each and every report that surfaced in the media ...
