Hoffenheim complete signing of Fabian Schar

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's backline was injected with some Swiss strength Thursday, as the club announced the signing of centre-back Fabian Schar through June 30, 2019.

Schar, 23, arrives at the Rhein-Neckar Arena from FC Basel, where he made 110 competitive appearances and scored 15 goals since his first-team debut in July 2012. He was also part of the Switzerland squad that advanced to the round of 16 at last year's World Cup.
"There is a young, ambitious team here and a perfect infrastructure," said Schar, who added it was "no secret" he was happy to move abroad.
