MLS Game Summary - Vancouver at Montreal

Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) - Ignacio Piatti's late goal lifts the Montreal Impact to a 2-1 victory over the Montreal Whitecaps on Wednesday night at Stade Saputo.

The Impact were the darlings of Major League Soccer as they made a run to the CONCACAF Champions League final. Vancouver, meanwhile, snapped a two-match losing streak with a 2-1 victory over Real Salt Lake at BC Place.

Montreal struck first in the 14th minute when Jack McInerney's right footed shot from the center of the box found the back of the net for his third goal of the year and gave the Impact an early 1-0 lead.

In the second half both teams settled down. In the 79th minute Jordan Harvey was pulled down in the box by Andres Romero. Pedro Morales stepped up to take the shot from the spot and beat Impact keeper Evan Bush to the bottom right corner to tie the game at 1-1.

Montreal would respond four minutes later when Romero sent a pass to Piatti in the center of the box. Piatti buried the ball in the lower right corner for the game winner.

The Whitecaps pushed everyone forward but could not find the net as the Impact registered three points.
