Ryan Braun: (Thumb) Should Return This Weekend

Manager Craig Counsell is optimistic that Braun (thumb) will be able to return to action by Sunday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. "It could be Friday, it could be Saturday but I'm thinking for sure Sunday (Braun) will be ready to go," Counsell said.

Analysis:

Braun is set to undergo a pre-planned cryotherapy procedure on his right thumb in an effort to prevent further issues down the road. The operation kept him out of baseball activities for a couple weeks last time he had the treatment in October, but it appears it will only cost him a couple days this time around. The Brewers should have a better feel for Braun's expected return date as the weekend gets closer.
