Report: David De Gea tells teammates he is leaving for Real Madrid

With all this smoke, there has to be fire somewhere.

David De Gea's reported move to Real Madrid has been the predominant transfer rumor of the season, and each day it seems as though the Spaniard inches closer to a return home.

Now, the Telegraph reports that De Gea has informed his teammates at Manchester United that he will indeed leave the club this summer, with the 24-year-old deciding against accepting a long-term extension from the Red Devils.

The report continues:

Real Madrid, meanwhile, are understood to have met this week to discuss their summer transfers, while a source in Spain has said that club president Florentino Perez is confident that De Gea will sign for over £25 million.

De Gea joined United in 2011, arriving in England following an £18.3-million transfer from Atletico Madrid, and was easily the club's best player this past season in helping them secure a top-four finish.
