Report: Former lottery pick Anthony Randolph pursuing NBA comeback

Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

The Golden State Warriors rolled the dice on LSU prospect Anthony Randolph in the 2008 NBA Draft, selecting the 6-foot-10 project with the 14th overall pick.

The mobility he possessed at his size was alluring, but the forward's gangly frame was nowhere near where it needed to be. Golden State ultimately dealt Randolph to the Big Apple after just two seasons, in a package to acquire David Lee in the summer of 2010.

Stints with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets closed out a disappointing six-year run in the NBA for Randolph, who never came close to reaching his full potential despite numerous opportunities to do so.

The 25-year-old big spent last season playing overseas for Lokomotiv Kuban of the Russian VTB United League. But before committing to another year shooting hoops abroad, Randolph wants one more chance at signing on with an NBA squad, as Eurobasket correspondent David Pick reports.

Randolph's strongest NBA campaign came in 2009-10, when he averaged 11.6 points and 6.5 rebounds through 33 games. His 7-foot-3 wingspan didn't lead to many rejections on the defensive end, though, as he averaged just under a block per game for his career.

While Randolph may have blown his only opportunity at making himself relevant in the NBA - potential can only take you so far - his age and ability to play multiple positions could swing some interest his way.
