VIDEO: Dodgers' Pederson ties franchise rookie record for home runs in a month

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

Joc Pederson is building his case for National League Rookie of the Year one swing at a time.

The Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder homered Sunday for the ninth time in May to tie a franchise record for home runs by a rookie in a calendar month. Pederson, who leads all first-year players with 13 homers this season, matched James Loney's mark set in September 2007.

Pederson's eighth-inning solo shot was the Dodgers' lone run in Sunday's 3-1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.
