Report: Patrick Vieira to meet with Newcastle over managerial role

Former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira has emerged as the latest candidate expected to meet with Newcastle over their managerial role.

Vieira joins former England boss Steve McLaren as potential replacements for interim manager John Carver, who is not expected to return despite helping the club avoid relegation with a win on the final day of the season against West Ham.

Vieira, who is currently on the staff at Manchester City as an elite development coach, is eager to progress his career as a coach and fits the criteria Newcastle are looking for, as they search for a young manager with the ability to change the identity of the team, according to Keith Downie of Sky Sports.
