Wolfsburg defeats Borussia Dortmund to claim 1st DFB-Pokal title in club history

Jurgen Klopp's time at Borussia Dortmund has come to an end, but the German bench boss is not leaving the club on the high note he was hoping for heading into Saturday's DFB-Pokal final.

Goals from Luiz Gustavo, Kevin De Bruyne, and Bas Dost in the opening half overturned an early marker from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, giving Wolfsburg a 3-1 win and, subsequently, their first German Cup title in club history.

The victory, aside from its historic value, also broke a period of dominance that had been shared by Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

The title caps off a remarkable season for manager Dieter Hecking, who also guided the Wolves to a second place finish in the Bundesliga - an accomplishment that carried with it automatic Champions League qualification.
