The Edmonton Eskimos have extended the contract of head coach Chris Jones.

Vice president of football operations and general manager Ed Hervey shared his thoughts on the extension.

"Chris is passionate, driven and well-deserving of this extension," he said. "Stability paves the way for consistency. Under Chris’s leadership, and with the work of his coaching staff, our team is headed in the right direction."

Jones was appointed the head coaching position in 2013, following a franchise-worst record of 4-14.

It only took Jones one season for a franchise recovery. In the 2014 campaign, the club began with a record of 7-1, eventually ending the regular season at 12-6 and losing in the playoffs to the Grey Cup-winning Calgary Stampeders in the Western final.
