Dwight Howard: 'I'm still a champion. And I won't let anyone tell me anything different'

Apparently Dwight Howard didn't get the memo. In order to be considered a champion, you must actually be a champion.

During Howard and the Houston Rockets' final postgame press conference of the season, the polarizing center fielded questions that included one about the challenges of overcoming injuries throughout his team's deep playoff run.

"It's tough, but I won't stop fighting," Howard said. "I'm going to continue to push myself to the limit and remember that, no matter how (the) season ends, I'm still a champion. And I won't let anyone tell me anything different."

While Howard may have been referring to the championship mentality a player must have in order to reach the apex of the NBA mountain, his choice of words may easily be perceived as curious, if not erroneous.

The No. 1 pick in the 2004 draft has made it as far as the finals - his Orlando Magic lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2009 - but has never won a NBA title.
