Former Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz has landed a new gig for the 2015 season.

Schwartz will serve as a consultant to the NFL's officiating department, writes NFL.com's Dan Hanzus. Schwartz's primary role will reportedly be to bring a coach's perspective to some of the decisions made by the department.

The Bills had the league's fourth-ranked overall defense last season under Schwartz, who parted ways with the team after the hiring of head coach Rex Ryan. He previously served as head coach of the Detroit Lions from 2009 to 2013, and as the Tennessee Titans' defensive coordinator from 2001 to 2008.
