One goal and zero assists in 16 Premier League appearances.
Those are hardly the kind of numbers that Liverpool expected Mario Balotelli to produce upon signing him at the beginning of the campaign.
Despite the struggles, however, Balotelli appears to be under the impression that he'll be back at Anfield next season, as he took to Instagram to post a thought-provoking picture in which a set of chains are holding him back from an image of Wembley, accompanied by the caption "Thanks to Liverpool fans for this year ... I'm loading for next season."
Why the picture of Wembley? Are his eyes set on winning nothing more than the FA Cup?
What do the chains represent? Are they symbolic of that afternoon in March when Liverpool supporters had to hold him back following an incident involving Chris Smalling?
So many questions ...
