VIDEO: Tristan Thompson busted Timofey Mozgov open with pregame dunk

The Cleveland Cavaliers may want to tone down their pregame warm-ups just a little bit.

Already short Kevin Love, Anderson Varejao, and maybe Kyrie Irving (he's a game-time decision), the Cavs appear to have avoided yet another injury ahead of Game 3 on Sunday. Two hours before they're set to tip off against the Atlanta Hawks, Tristan Thompson reportedly busted open teammate Timofey Mozgov in the process of dunking on him.

Mozgov was left with a bloody nose and had to head back to the locker room for ice, putting a premature end to their practice session.

"Our guys are playing with a lot of grit," head coach David Blatt said during his pregame media availability.

The Cavs could ill-afford to lose Mozgov given their thinned-out roster, especially with how well Russian Dean Ambrose has been playing. In 12 playoff games, Mozgov is averaging 8.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks, and he's scored 20 points on 9-of-15 shooting so far in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Thompson injuring his frontcourt partner would have been an unfortunate twist, as the duo has been great in the postseason. In the 157 minutes Mozgov and Thompson have shared the floor, the Cavs have outscored opponents by 9.5 points per-100 possessions and grabbed 57.1 percent of all available rebounds. They were formidable together in the regular season, too, but played sparingly as a pair because of Love's presence.
