After winning his fight against cancer, nine-year-old Boston Bruins fan Liam Fitzgerald was rewarded once again on Thursday.

Fitzgerald was given the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's "Man of the Year" award.

The honor comes after Fitzgerald raised more than $150,000 for the LLS to go toward blood cancer research.

He gained notoriety last November after video of him fist-pumping the Bruins players went viral.

After winning his battle with leukemia back in 2013, Fitzgerald, with help from his parents, helped create a #BumpOutCancer campaign, which ran between March and May.

The Bruins die-hard raised more than any other fundraiser.

Liam's mother, Christine, spoke about what her and her family have gone through on the campaign's fundraising page:

"You never know what life will deal to you at any given time nor do you always have a choice. What you do control is how you handle or play the cards that you are dealt."

Fitzgerald, who was born with Down Syndrome, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in 2006 before winning his fight four years later.
