NFLPA's DeMaurice Smith on Wells Report: It delivered 'exactly what the client wanted'

As we continue to wait for the NFL to hear Tom Brady's appeal, NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith has weighed in on the situation.

During a television interview with ESPN on Friday, Smith had some choice words about the validity of the Wells Report, which ultimately led to a four-game suspension for the New England Patriots quarterback.

"I think the Wells Report delivered exactly what the client wanted," Smith said. "You can't really have credibility just because you slap the word 'independent' on a piece of paper."

Brady and the NFLPA are clearly not happy with the sanctions levied for "Deflategate," and Smith's words will only fuel the fire during the appeal process.

Lawyers for Roger Goodell have reportedly advised Goodell not to recuse himself from Brady's appeal and Smith notes there is no date set for the appeal.
