Cowboys' Terrance Williams wants to improve rapport with Tony Romo

Dallas Cowboys receiver Terrance Williams had an impressive campaign in 2014, but he isn't satisfied.

Williams said he's working hard this year to make himself someone quarterback Tony Romo can rely on.

"I'm still trying to find ways to come out there and have him look my way the same way he looks at Dez (Bryant) and (Jason) Witten," Williams told Todd Archer of ESPN. "Now, this spring, I'm just basically with Tony doing whatever he's telling me to do, because I want him, every time he breaks the huddle, to have somebody else he can count on."

Bryant and Witten are still Romo's go-to options, but Williams took a step forward with eight touchdowns in 2014. He added three more in the postseason.

With Bryant holding out, Williams is getting an opportunity to be the No. 1 guy in offseason activities.

"Dez wants to be back," Williams said. "We know that and he knows that and whenever he comes back, he's back in the family. I still talk to him once every two days, probably - I just check up on him and see how he's doing. The times he did (come to Valley Ranch), he looked like he was ready to go. I guess whenever he decides to come back we're just going to pick up where we left off."

The emergence of Williams, along with Cole Beasley, gives the Cowboys added depth on offense and has made them more difficult to defend. Perhaps more importantly for Dallas, though, it's made Romo's job much easier.
