Zajac on Devils' future: 'I believe in this organization'

Travis Zajac believes the New Jersey Devils have what it takes to become a perennial contender yet again.

However, will the franchise's plans include the forward?

He's unsure, but that doesn't mean he won't be a team player.

"To be honest, I'm not sure how I'll be affected," Zajac told Rich Chere of NJ Advance Media. "I think I'm a very coachable player. Whatever they expect from me or want me to do, I'll do whatever it takes to help this team in any way. I believe in this organization."

The 30-year-old veteran isn't a spring chicken, but he's far from over the hill and has plenty he can still offer the team.

"I have a lot to give still and I feel like I can still help this organization and this team," said Zajac. "I don't think we're far away from where we want to be."

Zajac had a down year offensively collecting 11 goals in 74 games in a season that saw the Devils miss the playoffs.

The former first-round pick is in the middle of a 8-year, $46 million contract that keeps him with the Devils until the end of 2020-21.
