Angels pitching coach calls Blue Jays' Donaldson 'classless'

Josh Donaldson has left the American League West, but it appears there's no love lost between the Toronto Blue Jays third baseman and the Los Angeles Angels.

The 29-year-old former member of the Oakland Athletics had some choice words directed towards the Angels' dugout Monday in which Donaldson appeared to gesture towards his crotch.

"Nobody was talking him to him at first," Angels pitching coach Mike Butcher told reporters. "Literally, I was just sitting there at first and he started cursing, yelling back.

"He went back to the dugout. I guess he was trying to get somebody's attention (and) asked the coach next to him, 'Who's that?' They told him who it was, and he said his profanities and made a classless gesture. I guess that's just part of what he is."

While Donaldson failed to elaborate on what provoked the exchange, he did appear somewhat remorseful.

"I'm not here to try to bad mouth," Donaldson said. "People saw what happened. I played against these guys for a long time. They know the competitor that I am, and I think we just kind of got caught up in the heat of the moment."

Donaldson has been vocal the past few days. Following the Blue Jays' fourth-straight loss on Sunday, he vented his frustration.

"I can only control what I do, the guys beside me can only control what they do, it's really just about going out there and getting the job done," Donaldson told reporters. "This isn't the try league, this is the get it done league. Eventually they're going to find people who are going to get it done."
