Brad Friedel is entering his final days as a Premier League goalkeeper after announcing his plans to retire after the season.

The Tottenham 'keeper, who made the announcement on the team's website Thursday, says he will return to the United States where he will work as a pundit for FOX Sports. He will also begin working on obtaining his coaching badges.

"I'm incredibly proud of what I've achieved in my career," Friedel said. "When I first started the journey I never imagined it would be this long, playing 23 seasons in total and representing some incredible clubs."

Friedel, 43, will remain with the club in an ambassador role where his duties will be focused in the U.S.

The American signed with Tottenham in 2011 and has primarily played as a backup during his time at White Hart Lane.

His time with Blackburn Rovers saw him make over 250 appearances before a move to Aston Villa, where he beat Frank Lampard's mark of 164 consecutive appearances.

Friedel would go on to extend the record to 310 before losing the starter role to Tottenham 'keeper Hugo Lloris.

Friedel was also apart of the U.S. national teams that appeared in three World Cups from 1994 to 2002 before announcing his international retirement in 2005.

Tottenham will play Hull City and Everton in their final two matches of the season.
