Magic Johnson: Duncan, Kobe and LeBron could've played with Jordan, Bird and I

Richard Mackson-USA TODAY Sports

Unless you're interested in well-known statements of fact presented as commentary, Magic Johnson's Twitter feed probably isn't for you.

Every once in a while, though, Johnson breaks form and tweets honest-to-goodness opinions. Just ask Mike D'Antoni.

Unfortunately, some tweets can come across as comically out of touch, as this random gem on Monday did:

Johnson is't wrong, of course, as Duncan, Bryant and James would've thrived in any era, but so would a host of other superstars.

Kevin Garnett, Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash, Dwyane Wade, Kevin Durant and Chris Paul probably would have fared alright for themselves no matter the generation, too.

Not to mention, the depth of legitimate star talent across 30 teams today is deeper than at any point in NBA history. The notion that any player who rises into the upper echelon of that wealth of talent couldn't cut it in a rival generation is laughable.

Johnson was a mesmerizing basketball player - one of the best ever - and judging by his humanitarian work, he's an even better man. But that doesn't seem to have translated into being an engaging or worthwhile Twitter follow.
