Indians' Salazar retires 21 straight Twins, strikes out 11

Ken Blaze / USA TODAY Sports

Cleveland Indians right-hander Danny Salazar continues to dominate the Minnesota Twins.

The 25-year-old allowed one run off one hit while tying a season high with 11 strikeouts across seven innings on Sunday. Then he handed the ball over to the bullpen with a seven-run lead en route to an 8-2 win.

Following a leadoff home run by Brian Dozier to start the game, Salazar retired 21 straight batters.

It's the second time this season Salazar has stymied the Twins' offense. He picked up his first win on the year April 18 against Minnesota, allowing two runs off six hits and a pair of walks in six innings while striking out 10.

With the win Salazar improved to 3-1 with 43 strikeouts in 34 career innings against the Twins.
