Dodgers' Puig to undergo MRI on injured hamstring Monday

Joe Camporeale / USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig will undergo an MRI on his ailing left hamstring after re-aggravating the injury during Friday's rehab game.

Puig, who landed on the disabled list April 26, homered in his first at-bat for High-A Rancho Cucamonga before exiting due to tightness. He told reporters after the game that he was returning to Los Angeles to receive treatment.

Manager Don Mattingly originally said Puig will undergo the MRI on Sunday, but acknowledged to reporters that he misspoke and that the MRI would not take place until Monday.

Puig was targeting a return for early next week prior to suffering the setback.
