The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have announced the signing of non-import defensive lineman Jamaal Westerman.

The 6-foot-3, 260-pound defender played six seasons in the NFL, spending time with the New York Jets, Indianapolis Colts, Arizona Cardinals, Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Blue Bombers general manager Kyle Walters was quick to praise Westerman and the signing.

"Jamaal was highly recruited throughout the CFL this off-season and we are very grateful and fortunate he chose the Winnipeg Blue Bombers," he said. "He's a big, physical defensive end who we feel can be an immediate impact player on our roster."

Westerman played a total of 58 games in the NFL, collecting 62 combined tackles.
