Report: Jameis Winston recruiting La'el Collins to join Buccaneers

As La'el Collins gets set to field undrafted free-agent offers from teams around the league, the No. 1 overall pick of this past weekend's draft appears to be making his case for the standout offensive tackle to join him in Tampa Bay.

With many teams thought to be interested in the former LSU lineman, new Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston has been one of the more aggressive people in recruiting Collins thus far, according to Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports.

Whether or not Collins has any interest in signing with the Buccaneers remains to be seen, but Getlin adds that Winston has reached out several times in the past day, selling him on the idea of playing together for the foreseeable future.

Collins will have no shortage of suitors once his involvement in the ongoing murder investigation of a pregnant woman believed to be his former girlfriend wraps up.

Once considered a first-round prospect and potential top-10 pick, Collins saw his draft stock plummet when word emerged that he was being sought for questioning in the case, despite the fact he wasn't considered a suspect.

Collins is now in a position to choose where he'll start his NFL career. He reportedly met with Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan on Monday and is set to do the same with Miami Dolphins officials Tuesday.
