Marseille's Andre-Pierre Gignac scores 100th career Ligue 1 goal

A milestone was reached in the first half of Marseille's fixture at FC Metz on Friday, as Andre-Pierre Gignac gave Marcelo Bielsa's side a 1-0 lead with a strike that marked his 100th career goal in Ligue 1.

The goal, however, came in embarrassing fashion and provided something of a microcosm as to why Metz are likely to be relegated this season.

After 'keeper Anthony Mfa Mezui collided with one of his own teammates, Gignac merely needed to pick up the trash and slot the ball through traffic and into the back of the net.

Of Gignac's 100 Ligue 1 goals, nine came during his time at FC Lorient in 2006-07, 34 came during his subsequent three seasons at Toulouse FC, while the remaining 57 have come at Marseille.

Gignac later added his 19th goal of the season to produce a final scoreline of 2-0 and bring his Ligue 1 tally up to 101.
