Three 8th-graders receive scholarship offers from Miami

Al Golden is taking the road less traveled.

If you're an eighth-grade football player with serious college potential, there's a chance the Miami head coach might come knocking on your door.

In the last two days alone, Golden has offered three scholarships to high school freshmen, according to ESPN's Gerry Hamilton.

Before getting the impression that recruiting young is out of the norm, keep in mind that Golden already has three commitments in the class of 2018.

The first offer goes out to 6-foot-7, 175-pound athlete Kenny McIntosh.

The second goes to 6-foot-1 athlete Owen Pappoe, who also holds offers from Boston College and Tennessee.

The third doesn't come with a Twitter photo, but it was extended to James Cook, who is the younger brother of Florida State running back Dalvin Cook.

The latter offer will be a stretch for Golden, given Cook will likely follow in his brother's footsteps with the Seminoles. Either way, it's the recruiting trail less traveled.
