Nowitzki said Wednesday that he wouldn't be opposed to coming off the bench next season if the Mavericks land a top free agent, Earl Sneed of Mavs.com reports.

Analysis:

The big name expected to hit the market this offseason is LaMarcus Aldridge, and the Mavericks are believed to be in play for the Texas native if he opts to leave the Blazers. Should the Mavs be able to land Aldridge or another talented power forward, there's a chance Nowitzki could move to the bench as he enters his age 37 season. Nowitzki played his fewest minutes in 2014-15 (29.6 per game) since his rookie year, and the Mavs will likely look to further restrict his workload next season.
